1. Who we are

Avarbock Med (“Avarbock Med”, “we”, “us”) operates the medical education platform at avarbockmed.com (the “Service”). The Service is owned and operated by AvarbockMed LLC, a Florida limited liability company.

Questions about this policy: privacy@avarbockmed.com

2. Scope

This policy explains what personal information we collect through the Service, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to visitors, registered users, and — where applicable — students working with a tutor through the Service.

3. Information we collect

Account information. Authentication is handled by Clerk, Inc. When you create an account or sign in we receive your name, email address, and — if you sign in with Google — your Google account’s basic profile information and profile image. We do not receive or store your password; Clerk handles credentials directly.

Learning activity. We record how you use the Service so it can function and so you can see your own progress: articles you open and how far you read, articles you save, flashcard decks you create, your flashcard review history and scheduling data, comments you post, and content reports you submit.

Tutoring information (where applicable). If you work with a tutor through the Service, we store scheduling details, session records, session notes written by your tutor, and — where prepaid hours are used — a ledger of hours purchased and consumed.

Technical information. Our hosting and content-delivery providers automatically log IP address, browser type, device type, and request timestamps as part of operating and securing the Service.

Local browser storage. We store display preferences — theme, text density, line spacing, default filters — in your browser’s local storage. This stays on your device and is never transmitted to us.

4. Google user data

If you sign in with Google, we access only your basic profile: name, email address, and profile image. We use it solely to create and identify your account.

We do not access your Gmail, Google Drive, Calendar, Contacts, or any other Google service. We do not use Google user data for advertising, we do not sell it, and we do not transfer it to third parties except the service providers listed in section 6 who process it on our behalf.

Our use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

You can disconnect Google access at any time from your Google Account’s third-party access settings, or by deleting your Avarbock Med account.

5. How we use information

We use the information above to operate your account and authenticate you; to deliver educational content and remember your place in it; to run spaced repetition scheduling for flashcards; to support tutoring where you have engaged a tutor; to respond to comments, reports, and support requests; to maintain security, prevent abuse, and diagnose faults; and to understand which content is used so we can improve it.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not use your personal information to train artificial intelligence models.

6. Who we share it with

We share personal information only with service providers who process it on our behalf under contract:

ProviderPurpose
Clerk, Inc.Authentication and account management
Railway Corp.Application and database hosting
Cloudflare, Inc.Content delivery, DNS, and media storage

We may also disclose information where required by law, to enforce our Terms of Service, or to protect the rights and safety of users or the public.

If the Service is acquired or merged, information may transfer as part of that transaction; we will give notice before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.

7. Artificial intelligence

Some educational material on the Service is drafted with the assistance of large language models and reviewed by a physician before publication. This process operates on educational source material only. Your personal information, learning activity, comments, and tutoring records are not sent to AI providers.

8. Protected health information

The Service is an educational product. It is not a healthcare provider, health plan, or healthcare clearinghouse, and it is not a HIPAA covered entity or business associate.

Do not upload, post, or transmit protected health information or any information that identifies a real patient. If you submit such information, we may remove it without notice.

9. Retention

We keep account information for as long as your account is active. Learning activity is kept while your account is active so that your progress and scheduling remain usable.

If you delete your account, we remove your authentication record and your personal identifiers. Some records may be retained where we have a legal obligation to keep them, or in backups for a limited period before those backups expire. Aggregate statistics that cannot identify you may be retained indefinitely.

10. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to request its deletion, to obtain a copy in portable form, or to object to or restrict certain processing. You may also have the right not to receive discriminatory treatment for exercising these rights.

To exercise any of these, contact privacy@avarbockmed.com. We will respond within the time required by applicable law. We may need to verify your identity first.

11. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect personal information, including encryption in transit, access controls, and regular backups. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Children

The Service is intended for medical students and healthcare professionals and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

13. International users

The Service is operated from the United States, and your information will be processed there. If you access the Service from outside the United States, you consent to that transfer and processing.

14. Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date above and, for material changes, give notice through the Service or by email before the change takes effect.
